Teenager stabbed, police appeal for public assistance at Blacktown

Police have appealed for public assistance as they continue to investigate the stabbing of a teenage boy in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 4pm (Thursday 18 February 2021), police and other emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing at Blacktown Showground, located on Richmond Road, Blacktown.

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old boy with multiple stab wounds to his torso and arms. He was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to Westmead Childrens Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command immediately commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have been told the boy was involved in a pre-arranged fight with another boy. A large group of males, who were also at the scene, then joined the fight.

A knife and machete were later recovered from the scene by police.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, including anyone who has mobile phone footage of the incident, to contact Blacktown Police or Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
