Northern Beaches police have charged two teens following an alleged pursuit in Dee Why yesterday.
About 8.30pm yesterday officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were travelling on Pittwater Road, Dee Why, when they located a Toyota Camry allegedly speeding.
Police directed the driver of the Toyota to stop, however when they didn't a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued until the Toyota crashed into an unoccupied Toyota utility at Dee Why beach carpark.
The driver and two passengers of the Toyota then allegedly attempted to flee the scene resulting in a short foot pursuit by police.
Following the short foot pursuit, police arrested a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy nearby before taking them to Manly Police Station.
During the arrest the 16-year-old allegedly attempted to resist police and flee the scene again before being arrested.
A short time later, officers arrested a 21-year-old man nearby who was also taken to Manly Police Station but later released without charge.
The 19-year-old was charged with police pursuit, drive manner dangerous, proceed through red light, drive while unlicensed and breach of bail.
The 16-year-old was charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
Both teens were refused bail with the older teen appearing before Manly Local Court today (Friday 19 July 2024), and the younger teen appearing before a Children's court today.
Investigations are continuing.
