Three teens will face court today following an alleged assault of a man in the state's north this week.
About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 21 August 2024), three teens and a man entered an abandoned building on Byron Street, Inverell, before the man was allegedly assaulted.
Police were told the three teens – later joined by another teen – assaulted the 19-year-old man multiple times before they left the location on foot.
Officers attached to New England Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The man was treated for multiple injuries including bruising, lacerations, burns and welts.
Following inquiries, about 5.30pm yesterday, a 16-year-old boy attended Inverell Police Station and was arrested.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Inverell about 12.15am today (Thursday 22 August 2024), and was taken to Inverell Police Station.
Another 16-year-old boy was arrested about 12.50am today, at another home and taken to Inverell Police Station.
All three boys were charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm.
They were all refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Thursday 22 August 2024).
