Three teens have been charged after an alleged police pursuit across Western Sydney yesterday afternoon under Operation Ensure.
Operation Ensure is a North West Metropolitan Region proactive police operation targeting youth and gang related knife crime across Western Sydney.
About 4pm yesterday (Friday 13 December 2024), police located a vehicle, believed to be stolen, travelling on Hill End Road, Doonside.
Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command directed the Range Rover to stop; however, when the driver allegedly failed to do so a pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit the vehicle travelled through Doonside, Rooty Hill, Hebersham, Glendenning and Oakhurst and collided with three stationary vehicles.
A short time after the pursuit began, the allegedly stolen vehicle stopped on Radford Place, Oakhurst, where four teens allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Following a short foot pursuit, a man – aged 19 – and two teenage boys – both aged 17 – were arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.
Police located and seized a machete from the vehicle and three more machetes which were located on surrounding streets believed to have been thrown from the car during the pursuit.
All three teens were charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, custody of knife in public place and face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence.
All three teens were refused bail to appear before court today (Saturday 14 December 2024), with the 19-year-old appearing before Parramatta Local Court and the two 17-year-olds appearing before Children's Court.
Police will allege in court the teens were wearing balaclavas during the pursuit.
As inquiries continue police are hoping to speak to an unknown male seen leaving the scene at the time of the arrests.
