Two teenagers will face Children's court for an alleged assault and carrying a knife in public place in Bathurst area.
About 5.15pm yesterday (Saturday 6 July 2024), police were called to a shopping centre on Howick Street, Bathurst, following reports of youths with knives.
On arrival, officers attached to Chifley Police District were told a 16-year-old boy was allegedly threatened and assaulted by two other boys – aged 15 and 13 – at the time of incident.
It is believed that the two boys threated him saying they had knives.
The 16-year-old boy was not injured.
Following a foot pursuit in the shopping centre, police arrested a 13 -year-old boy in the shopping centre.
Officers searched his belongings and seized a fishing knife.
A short time later, police arrested another male teenager – aged 15 – at the intersection of Durham Street and Bentnick Street.
Police also seized a small knife from him.
Both teenagers were taken to Bathurst Police Station where the 15-year-old boy was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, custody of knife in public place, and common assault.
The 13-year-old boy was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, custody of knife in public place, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
They were both refused bail where the older boy to appear at Children's Court on Tuesday (9 July 2024) and the younger boy to appear at Children's Court today (Sunday 7 July 2024).
