Two teenagers have been charged after they allegedly committed an armed home invasion at a Riverina property last month.
About 7.30pm Friday 21 March 2025, police were called to a home in Lake Albert, following reports of a home invasion.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District arrived and were told a group of unknown males had broken into the home before holding a resident at knifepoint and fleeing the property with cash.
No injuries were reported.
Police established a crime scene, and an investigation was commenced under Operation Mongoose Southern into the incident.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at a home on Hollows Crescent, Lloyd, about 12.30pm today (Tuesday 1 April 2025).
During the arrest, police located and seized a machete, a baton and 43 grams of Cannabis.
Following further inquiries, police arrested an 18-year-old man at a hotel in Lake Albert, about 3.05pm the same day.
During the second arrest, police located and seized a further 46 grams of Cannabis.
Both teens were taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where they were both charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there and possess prohibited drug.
The 17-year-old was also charged with breach apprehended domestic violence order.
They were both refused bail to appear before court tomorrow, with the 18-year-old man appearing before Wagga Wagga Local Court and the 17-year-old boy appearing before a children's court.
Investigations under Operation Southern Mongoose continue, which was formed to target young offenders who commit break and enter offences and steal motor vehicles.
