Teens Charged in Mid North Coast Break-In

Police have charged five teenage boys after they allegedly stole a car following a break and enter in the state's north.

About 12.30am today (Tuesday 15 April 2025), officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District were patrolling Bonvale Close, Rainbow Flat, approximately 13km north west of Black Head, when they located a utility being driven in a dangerous manner.

Checks alleged the vehicle was stolen from a home on Cowan Road, Taree, about 10pm on Monday 14 April 2025.

Due to the road condition, a pursuit was not initiated.

A short time later, the vehicle was sighted by police on Blackhead Road, Black Head, before it allegedly drove into sand dunes at Tuncurry Beach.

A short time later the vehicle stopped after it became bogged in the sand and five occupants left the scene on foot.

Following inquires with the assistance from Dog Unit, police arrested five teenage boys – three aged 14, one aged 17 and the other aged 15 – nearby.

They were all taken to Taree Police Station where they were all charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000 and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

They were refused bail to appear at children's court today (Tuesday 15 April 2025).

Investigations under Operation Soteria continue.
