Telstra and the National Farmers' Federation (NFF) have today re-committed to working together by signing a new 4-year partnership aimed at advancing the industry's 2030 Roadmap.
The agreement will see Telstra continue to work with Australia's peak farming body with a focus on promoting uptake of digital technologies, investing in emerging industry leaders, and driving awareness and support for the industry's 2030 Roadmap agenda.
President of the NFF, Fiona Simson, said Telstra's continued support would play a valuable role in positioning the industry for the future.
"With support from Telstra, we've charted an ambitious path forward for our industry," Ms Simson said.
"To deliver on that vision over the coming decade requires broad collaboration - from industry bodies, government, and the private sector.
"Telstra is continuing to step up to this challenge by working with us to understand the needs of farmers and regional Australians, and investing in the leadership and capability building required to deliver on our aspirations," Ms Simson said.
Chief Executive of Telstra, Andy Penn, said the renewed partnership was all about seizing new opportunities for agriculture and regional Australia.
"We know that a strong farm sector means stronger regional communities," Mr Penn said.
"That's why we backed their vision of becoming Australia's next $100 billion industry and will continue to support the industry toward achieving growth.
"We know a lot of that growth will be unlocked through adoption of new digital farming technologies. We're continuing to invest in our regional networks to help lead this transformation," Mr Penn said.
Under the four-year deal agreed today, Telstra will play a central role in supporting a broad range of NFF initiatives and activities, including:
- continued support of the NFF's 2030 Roadmap and the NFF Emerging Leaders Program;
- becoming a supporter of the Diversity in Agriculture Leadership Program;
- establishing a young farmer Council to underpin the development of future leaders and to develop agtech solutions;
- collaborate on thought leadership work on digital capability and adoption; and
- continue the NFF National Conference, regional roadshows and Ag Week events;
- and more.
"We welcome Telstra's support for these activities - each of which play a role in securing a strong future for our industry," Ms Simson said.
