Telstra will be upgrading its mobile base station at the Queenscliff Telephone exchange by adding additional infrastructure to bring better 4G services and new 5G coverage to the community, but the works will require a series of temporary outages or reduction in mobile coverage.
The commencement of the pre-build works will temporarily impact Telstra mobile coverage during daylight hours from Wednesday 7 February to Friday 9 February 2024. The mobile network will not be impacted over the weekend 10-11 February 2024.
From Monday 12 February 7am to Friday 16 February 5pm there will be no mobile network coverage from this site during this period.
After this is completed, there might be some temporary disruptions during daylight hours on Saturday 17 February to Wednesday 21 February as Telstra completes the call testing and integrates the network to complete the upgrade.
Telstra mobile customers will receive text messages advising of the upcoming work.
Landline services, NBN internet services and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted. Any calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically be diverted to any working mobile network for connection to emergency services. Telstra's mobile sites at Point Lonsdale Golf Club and Queenscliff water tank will remain active during this time.
