Bangalow Road, north of the roundabout and south of Clark Street, will be temporarily closed over three nights on Monday 18, Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 July 2022.
The overnight road closures will start at 5pm each night and continue through to 7am the following morning. The road closure will not impact access to the Bangalow Road/Angels Beach Drive roundabout.
This short closure is necessary to ensure intersection widening works are completed as quickly as possible, and will allow Council's contractor to complete asphalt works along this section of road.
During this time motorists will need to detour via the industrial estate. Traffic control will be in place to enable motorists to turn right into Sheather Street from Angels Beach Drive and left out or right out onto Angels Beach Drive from Sheather Street.
This is a short-term arrangement only.
Motorists will need to detour as follows:
- Heading south on Angels Beach Drive. Detour via the industrial estate. Turn right at Sheather Street and travel via Hogan and Clark Streets to access Tamarind Drive, the airport and McDonalds/Ballina Fair. Access to Ballina CBD and Ballina Central Shopping Centre will continue as normal.
- Heading east (inbound) on Tamarind Drive/ Bangalow Road. Detour via the industrial estate (Sheather, Hogan and Clark Streets) to access Angels Beach Drive/Lennox Head.
- Heading west (outbound) on Bangalow Road towards Tamarind Drive. Turn right at the roundabout onto Angels Beach Drive then detour via the industrial estate (Sheather, Hogan and Clark Streets) to reconnect with Bangalow Road.
The roundabout upgrade works are progressing well and Council anticipates the project will be completed for the community's enjoyment by early August.
Ballina Shire Council thanks businesses and residents for their ongoing patience as these works are carried out.
