Greater Shepparton City Council's Aquamoves has made the difficult decision to cancel some swimming lessons due to an industry shortage of qualified Swimming Instructors. The cancellation will take effect from the beginning of Term Two lessons which resume on Monday 15 April 2023.
Council's Manager Active Living, David Booth said recruiting new Swimming Instructors is a high priority.
"The decision to reduce lessons was not made lightly. Recruitment and training for new swimming instructors is in progress, but we want to make sure all individuals are ready to teach at the highest level and training can take several months."
"As our instructor numbers return to more sustainable levels we will reach back out to families to re-enrol their children back into the program", Mr Booth said.
