Swan Hill Rural City Council has announced a temporary road closure for Woorinen Road, between McCallum Street and 150 Woorinen Road, to facilitate essential road rehabilitation works.
Council's Director Infrastructure, Leah Johnston said that the closure would be in effect from Monday, 26 August 2024, to September 30, 2024.
"The temporary road closure is being put in place while essential road rehabilitation works are undertaken.
"Residents have long advocated for these improvements, and we are thrilled to address the safety concerns that have been raised regarding this stretch of road.
"Rehabilitation works will include a full reconstruction of the road including subgrade and shoulders, as well as construction and shaping of the table drain," Ms Johnston said.
Ms Johnston said that during this period, traffic would be redirected through alternative routes.
"Detours will be in place directing traffic to utilise Memorial Drive or Bish Road and Karinie street. Residents in the western end of Butterworth Street should utilise William Street to navigate around the closure."
"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the safety and quality of our road infrastructure," she said.
Ms Johnston said that in addition to these works a tender is currently open for works in Station Street, Woorinen South.
