- Purpose-built hospital to provide modern emergency and contemporary multidisciplinary ambulatory care facilities and outpatient services
The Cook Government has awarded the tender for the construction of the new Laverton Hospital to ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd.
The new facility is set to deliver modern emergency and contemporary multidisciplinary ambulatory care facilities and outpatient services, including community health, mental health, and drug and alcohol services.
Ensuring a range of services are available to the community under one roof, the hospital will also provide specialist rooms for visiting clinicians and space for an on-site private GP clinic.
Main works are expected to run concurrently with forward works from March 2025.
The project includes a contribution of $16.8 million from the Australian Government's Community Health and Hospitals Program.
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"Following the early start on forward works for the new Laverton Hospital, I'm excited to see things are moving ahead to the next phase.
"The new hospital will provide patients with contemporary models of care with a range of short-stay inpatient clinical and treatment services close to home.
"Importantly, the people of Laverton and surrounds will have ready access to contemporary emergency and outpatient facilities including community and mental health, and specialist services."
As stated by Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent:
"This is historic news for Laverton. It's been promised for many years but it's only being finally delivered under my term as Member for Kalgoorlie.
"I have worked hard to advocate for this on behalf of my community and I'm so proud to have been able to deliver it.
"I'd like to thank the Minister and the Cook Government for listening and supporting the Goldfields region."
