Indigo Shire Council has awarded a contract for almost half a million dollars to Convergence Design Australia Pty Ltd to carry out the design, produce, construct and install phase of the Beechworth Courthouse Kelly Trials Project.
The contract covers all exhibition and multimedia elements of the exhibition and will bring the $1M project to completion in June 2023.
Convergence is currently delivering the research and curatorial phase of the project as well as the Glenrowan Siege Site viewing tower exhibition for the Rural City of Wangaratta.
Mayor, Bernard Gaffney says that Convergence has a reliable track record, with strong museum, heritage and tourism experience and in delivering exhibitions of national significance.
"Awarding this contract is a significant step for this exciting project and we look forward to seeing this important piece of our cultural heritage come to life."
Jointly funded by Council and a $500,000 grant from the Victorian Government's Regional Infrastructure Fund, once complete, the Courthouse and Kelly Trials experience will tell the stories from the Kelly outbreak from 1878-1880 and the history of the courthouse.
