- Tender for five regional health projects released
- Focuses on key health projects in the Pilbara and Kimberley
- Closing date for the tender is 11 October
A tender for five significant infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering health services in the Kimberley and Pilbara has been released on Tenders WA.
The tender incorporates two packages for contractors to bid, which include the following Cook Government priority projects:
- Halls Creek Renal Service;
- Broome Renal Hostel;
- Broome Step Up/Step Down facility;
- Hedland Health Campus Magnetic Resonance Imaging; and
- South Hedland Step Up/Step Down facility.
The projects are being bundled together to create a more attractive package for contractors, while streamlining Government processes.
It also builds a sustainable pipeline of works in regional WA.
This tender allows the successful contractors to apply their regional experience and knowledge in the design and construction of each project.
The tender is available on Tenders WA and closes on 11 October.
As stated by Health and Mental Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"These are important infrastructure projects for the communities of Halls Creek, Broome, and Hedland.
"The two new Step Up/Step Down facilities will provide vital services and support for people with mental health issues in those communities, allowing them to remain close to family and friends while they recover.
"By bundling together these projects, the tender becomes more attractive to contractors and creates a more sustainable pipeline of work for industry.
"This approach also drives cost savings in economies of scale and enables constructions to commence faster."
As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:
"The release of this tender is an important milestone for Pilbara communities.
"The Hedland Health Campus Magnetic Resonance Imaging will provide a new MRI suite at the facility, providing timely access to important diagnostic services closer to home."
As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:
"This is a fantastic announcement for Halls Creek. The Halls Creek renal dialysis service project will see the delivery of a new eight-chair renal dialysis unit, which will allow patients to stay close to home and country during their treatment.
"Similarly, the Broome Renal Hostel project will be a new facility established to improve renal support service in the region, reducing the need to travel to Perth."
