Territory Artists to Rock BASSINTHEGRASS Stage

NT Government

The next generation of Territory talent will test their mettle on the Territory's biggest music stage after winning the BASSINTHEGRASS Territory Artist Competition.

This year, three acts- instead of the usual two - have been selected to perform at BASS: TANG, RileyP and DJ D'Moss, following a hotly contested competition. Judges, representing the events and music industry, received 22 submissions from across the NT, the highest number since 2021.

TANG is a Darwin-based fem-rock trio known for their infectious energy and ability to get a dance floor moving. A staple of the local scene since forming in 2023, they've supported acts including Party Dozen, Surf Trash and Beddy Rays. In 2025, they took home Rock Song of The Year and People's Choice at the NT Music Awards for Darwin Time.

Darwin hip-hop artist Riley P is recognised for high-energy performances and sharp, direct lyricism. He won the AUS Take Flight fly16 2024 competition and has supported major Australian acts including Drapht, Kerser and Bliss n Eso, among others. Beyond performing, Riley foudned MNM Mentoring (Music N Media), delivering hip-hop-based youth engagement programs across the Northern Territory.

DJ D'Moss, began spinning tracks at age 12 at the Youth Shack Backpackers and has since honed his skills at The Cavenagh Hotel, Lost Arc, Monsoons, Mayberry, Kingpin, and the Cocktail Festival. Now 16, he's ready to take on the BASS stage, bringing original music guaranteed to get the crowd moving.

BASSINTHEGRASS is also championing accessibility with the appointment of Clarence "CJ" McCarthy-Grogan as Accessibility Ambassador. CJ is a Yanyuwa, Garrawa, Kuku-Yalanji man from Darwin and has represented Australia in wheelchair basketball.

CJ will help promote accessibility initiatives and raise awareness of available services and facilities, including the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Initiative, Changing Places facility, dedicated accessible viewing platform, accessible matting, sensory bags, Access and Inclusion Guide and on-site accessibility support services.

Delivered by Tourism and Events NT, BASSINTHEGRASS showcases Darwin as a world-class destination for live music and is an all-ages event. Featuring three stages, and more than 20 acts, the music festival guarantees an epic day under Top End palm trees and flawless Territory skies.
