Textile Recycling Drop-off Suspended

Due to changes to Upcycle4Better's operations, textiles can no longer be dropped off for recycling at Mitchell Shire Resource Recovery Centres.

UpCycle4Better has ceased its textile collection and recycling services in Victoria, shifting focus toward product design to address challenges in the supply chain and support the circular economy.

Until an alternative service provider can be engaged, our Resource Recovery Centres are unable to accept unwanted textiles for recycling.

Ways you can help to reduce textile waste:

  • Donate usable textiles to local charities, opportunity shops, or animal shelters.
  • Extend the life of your textiles by repairing, repurposing or upcycling them before considering disposal.
  • Be mindful when purchasing new textiles, focus on quality and quantity to minimise waste.

Any unwanted textiles brought to our Resource Recovery Centres for disposal will now incur a general waste fee.

Mitchell Shire Council is exploring alternative options for textile recycling and will update the community if a new service become available.
