- The Stone Roses are rumored to be releasing another new single – which could be released as early as today (June 9), according to NME.
Details of a song called ‘Beautiful Thing’ emerged on the website of music copyright site PPL last night (June 8). PPL is the copyright organisation which oversees the playing of songs in public.
The Stone Roses registered details of ‘Beautiful Thing’ with PPL, stating that it lasts for seven minutes.
Since it was spotted by Stone Roses fan groups, it has been speculated that it will become the band’s second single following the release of ‘All For One’ on May 13. It has also been suggested that ‘Beautiful Thing’ could be the B-side of ‘All For One’, which is due for release as a 7" vinyl on July 1.
The band’s spokesman declined to comment. However, NME understands from various sources that an announcement about new Stone Roses material could be due as early as tonight.
As previously reported, Reni told a fan before Tuesday’s warm-up show at Halifax Victoria Theatre that the band had "100%" recorded new material in addition to ‘All For One’ which he said sounded "beautiful" – a possible hint at the title of ‘Beautiful Thing’.
It has been widely reported that band insiders heard two songs produced by Paul Epworth several weeks before the release of ‘All For One’. It isn’t yet clear if ‘Beautiful Thing’ is the second of those songs or another track. NME will give updates when any new information becomes available.
