Detectives are investigating a theft and subsequent deceptions which occurred in the Central Business District on Saturday.
Investigators have been told the victim had stored her backpack at the rear of a carnival tent in the Alexandra Gardens.
In the backpack was the victims' wallet and another employees phone and wallet.
Someone has entered the tent between 11.30am - 12.30pm and stolen the black Adidas bag.
Credit cards from the theft were then used at various locations throughout the CBD to purchase food and cigarettes.
Detectives have released images of a man who they believe can assist with their enquires.
He is perceived to be of Caucasian, 35-year-old and about 183 centimetres tall, short brown curly hair and with a tattoos on his right arm and leg.
He was dressed in grey t-shirt with "Dickies" written on it with a blue t-shirt underneath, blue shorts and dark coloured runners with a white sole.
