Benalla Rural City Council is excited to announce that the third round of Social Connection Grants, funded through the Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) are now open for applications.

These grants are designed to help local community groups and organisations host events and activities that foster connection and inclusion, strengthening social bonds that provide essential support and create positive community experiences.

In addition to the general Social Connection Grants, there is also dedicated funding available specifically for First Nations activities and projects, to help support cultural events and initiatives.

Benalla Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer, Mr Dom Testoni, highlighted the value of these grants in bringing the community together.

"Community connection is essential for our wellbeing. The Social Connection Grants give local groups the chance to organise events that bring people together and strengthen our shared sense of belonging."

Community groups, schools, kindergartens and not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to $1,500, funded by the Victorian Government's Department of Health, to support a range of initiatives.

"We strongly encourage all eligible groups to apply. These grants empower our community groups to create meaningful and impactful events - whether it's a workshop or a community gathering, we want to support your vision for a more connected Benalla."

Mr Testoni also acknowledged the collaborative spirit of the Social Inclusion Action Group, a community-driven initiative facilitated by Benalla Rural City Council.

"SIAG plays a vital role in amplifying our community's voice and developing local solutions that support social connection and inclusion. The support from the Victorian Government allows us to continue this important work," said Mr Testoni.
