Third Suspect Charged in Credit Card Skimming Scheme

Financial Crime Squad detectives have charged a woman following an investigation into an elaborate card skimming scheme worth $3.75 million.

Strike Force Gwynellen was established by State Crime Command's Financial Crimes Squad in March 2023 to investigate a transnational organised crime network hailing from Romania, believed to be involved in alleged card skimming throughout Sydney.

Earlier this week, two men – aged 40 and 43 – were charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, strike force investigators attended a unit on Taren Point Road, Caringbah, where they arrested a 26-year-old woman about 12.30pm yesterday (Friday 29 September 2023).

She was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime more than $5000.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 11 November 2023.

Investigations under Strike Force Gwynellen are continuing.
