Yoga, Aqua Movers, Line Dancing, Pilates, croquet, gymnastics, tennis and football are just some of the 60 activities on offer as part of the Central Goldfields Shire This Girl Can calendar of events.

Central Goldfields Shire has partnered with Sports Focus to deliver VicHealth's This Girl Can Week initiative with events on offer from 14 to 27 October, 2024.

The jam packed program of events is available to view at https://sportsfocus.com.au/this-girl-can-central-goldfields-event-registration/

Central Goldfields Shire Youth Worker Gemma Simpson said it was exciting to see such a diverse program of activities come together.

"Earlier this year we invited the community to share their experiences, feelings, challenges and beliefs when it comes to participating in sport.

"This program of events has been specifically tailored to break down some of these barriers – we hope it's a program that will inspire women to get active – however, wherever and whenever they choose, without being judged.

"Shout out to all our local sporting groups and businesses who have jumped on board to be part of this year's program. It's by far the biggest program we've offered to date and we can't wait to see it rolled out."

Sports Focus Project Coordinator Jo Cahill said Central Goldfields Shire have again partnered with Sports Focus and local activity providers to put together a calendar of events to celebrate This Girl Can Week.

"With over 60 FREE events on offer, there is something for everyone.

"VicHealth's This Girl Can Week is all about offering free, beginner friendly activities that encourage women, girls and gender diverse people to be more active or try something new."

"There will be activities that you can do with your kids, sessions during the day and in the evening, indoor and outdoor options.

"We all know about the health benefits of being physically active, but it's not always easy to get out there and do it. This is a way to try an activity for free in a safe and supportive environment and connect with others at the same time."
