A man ideally experienced to provide hydraulic hose and fitting services for machinery needed in Queensland's fast-growing city has joined the Hydraulink network to serve Ipswich as it prepares to double in size from its current population of 250,000.
Thomas Probst, 29, is a local resident of the south-east Queensland city who has worked in the building services and contracting areas for several years prior to hearing about the opportunities to join a "Can Do" network that fosters personal development, training, and customer service.
"Ipswich is preparing for the biggest growth burst in its history, with a major need for hydraulic hose and fittings services for machinery used in civil engineering, construction, logistics, road and rail, and other infrastructure and transport," says Thomas, who wants to forge a career based on 24/7 mobile service.
The City of Ipswich – about 40 km west of Brisbane CBD – is also a centre for manufacturing, food and agribusiness, and other industries growing as the City of Ipswich Council sets its sights on providing for a population of more than 500,000 in a little more than 20 years.
"As a person keen to develop my own business rewarding my own efforts – but with the backing of a national network with more than 150 service points around Australia – I was attracted to Hydraulink because friends told me about their work, product quality, and safety standards. Good consistent standards – consistent quality work and value – are vital to both big companies and to the large number of smaller companies and subbies here employing several people.
"All of these companies need to know and trust that they are dealing with an organisation that ensures uniformly excellent compliance with statutory standards across single or multiple sites. This is a major pre-condition of doing business today, along with providing outstanding response to avoid downtime and delivering deep value for thorough work that keeps customers coming back. Builders and infrastructure developers are very busy people, in my experience, and they value the support of services they can rely on to deliver standards of quality and value that match their own."
Strong support network
Thomas is deeply grateful for the parental and peer support he has received since joining the expanding Hydraulink Queensland network, which emphasises community values and mutual support.
"Support and knowledge are so important when you are settling out and I am so grateful to my Dad, Robert, who has a wealth of knowledge in running his own business, and to the Hydraulink network who reached out to help me and show me the ropes.
"Everyone has been good at Hydraulink – and their training is excellent – but I especially appreciate the personal help I have received from local Hydraulink people such as long-time operator Martin Smith, Andy Schuler, and Max Mann over at Yatala."
The Hydraulink hose and fittings network, which operates under the corporate signature "Best Under Pressure," includes 13 company-owned sites in Australia, 135 network partners, and 150 service vehicles offering 24/7 onsite and mobile services. Thomas will be one of the latest operators to join the mobile service fleet.
The network prides itself on ongoing training and quality, traceable products, and work. It also provides support for well qualified people such as Thomas who, after solid training, want to operate their own business within the network family.
Hydraulink Australia National Franchise Manager, Wayne Abbott, says taking the step into your own business is far less daunting when you know you are part of a family of similarly oriented people focussed on quality and value and backed by a network that lives and breathes these values.
"One of the great things about Thomas is that already has a strong community focus, having lived and worked in the area and sharing the values that will see him advance. His work to date also positions him well to anticipate the infrastructure needs that will drive his career in this vigorous market," said Wayne, who leads the search throughout Australia for self-starters who feel they can meet the Hydraulink network's standards and values.
