Three men have been charged after more than seven kilograms of cannabis was seized during a vehicle stop in the state’s Far West yesterday, NSW Police say.
Just before 3pm today, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command at Dareton stopped a Mazda 3 travelling east on the Sturt Highway, Monak, for the purposes of a random breath test.
Police spoke to the driver, a 41-year-old man, before he was breath tested with a negative result.
After speaking to the passengers, two men – aged 21 and 23 – officers searched the occupants and the vehicle.
Police allegedly located and seized amphetamines, knuckle dusters, and cannabis. During a further search of the car about 6.5kg of cannabis was located hidden in the air compressor in the rear of the vehicle. The total 7.4kg cannabis seized has an estimated potential street value of $30,000.
The three men were arrested and taken to Dareton Police Station.
The 41-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug. He was refused bail to face Wentworth Local Court tomorrow.
The 21-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug.
The 23-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited article
They are due to appear at Wentworth Local Court on Tuesday 10 January 2017.
