Three Charged in Dubbo Break-In Attempt

Two men and a teenage boy will face court today, charged with an alleged attempted break and enter in the state's Western Plains region earlier today.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders. Officers attached to POLAIR were deployed to Dubbo and Tamworth over the weekend to assist with the operation.

About 3am (Monday 6 January 2025), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to a convenience store on Whylandra Street, Dubbo, following reports of an attempted aggravated break and enter.

Police were told three people – armed with knives – allegedly attempted to break into the store by kicking a rear door.

With the assistance of the Dubbo Proactive Crime Team and POLAIR, police located and tracked the group, to nearby residences on Alfred Street, Dubbo.

Police attended and arrested a 12-year-old boy, and two men – aged 19 and 22 – who were taken to Dubbo Police Station

The 12-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal, custody of knife in public place, and breach of bail. He was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court today (Monday 6 January 2025).

The 19-year-old man was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal, custody of knife in public place, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, and commit s114 offence, having previous conviction.

The 22-year-old man was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, commit s114 offence, having previous conviction, and have custody of an offensive implement in a public place.

The men were refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Monday 6 January 2025).
