Three Charged with 78 Offences in Strike Force Cunjegong

Two men and one woman have been charged following an ongoing operation in the state's Riverina.

In November 2024, Strike Force Cunjegong was established to investigate the supply of illicit drugs in the Riverina Police District.

Officers attached to Southern Region Enforcement Squad with assistance from the Southern Operations Group, NSW Dog Unit and Riverina Police District executed search warrants at homes in Ashmont, Mount Austin and Oura.

Two men, age 43 and 38, and a 34-year-old woman were arrested and charged with 78 offences, including supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis.

They were refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025).

About 7.30am yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2025), police attached to Southern Region Enforcement Squad with assistance from the Southern Operations Group, Riverina Police Station and NSW Dog Unit executed a search warrant in Ashmont. Police seized cannabis and a mobile phone which was sent away for forensic examination. About 8.30am, officers attended a home in Ziegler Street, Kooringal and arrested a 43-year-old man. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with 29 drug offences and participate criminal group contribute criminal, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), two charges of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and hinder/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty. He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025)

About 7.45am yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2025), police attached to Southern Region Enforcement Squad with assistance from the Southern Operations Group attended a home in Mount Austin. Police seized methylamphetamine and cash. A 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station. She was charged 40 drug offences and one count of knowingly and recklessly direct criminal group assist crime. She was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025).

About 3.00pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2025), police attached to Southern Region Enforcement Squad with assistance from the Southern Operations Group attended a home in Ashmont. Police seized methylamphetamine, GHB (gamma-hydroxbutyrate), expandable baton, cash and a laser pointer. A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station. He was charged 9 drug offences and hinder/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty. He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025).
