The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to ensuring children in Tasmania will be able to access quality early learning in the year before kindergarten.
The Early Learning for Three Year Olds (EL3) initiative is launching at three unique trial sites: Bruny Island, East Devonport, and Fingal.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said these sites have been carefully selected to address the specific needs of communities with limited early learning options.
"The EL3 initiative is a pivotal part of the Tasmanian Government's commitment to providing early learning opportunities for all children, giving them a strong foundation for life and learning," Minister Palmer said.
"By enhancing the capacity of Tasmania's Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services, the initiative ensures that quality early learning is available where it is most needed.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're committed to giving children the best possible start in life and learning, and improving access to early education, regardless of where you live or family circumstances."
The Bruny Island trial is located at Bruny Island Primary School during school terms and is starting this week to coincide with the commencement of Launching into Learning.
It will include a range of early learning opportunities and supports children from birth to 4 years, with priority for three year olds.
The East Devonport trial will commence in Term 1 as a regulated early childhood education and care service. It will commence three days per week, co-located on the East Devonport primary School site and adjacent to the child and family learning centre.
The Fingal trial will be an expansion of an existing service at the Fingal Valley Neighbourhood House, which currently offers one day of occasional care.
The trial will commence later this month and operate for one day per week expanding the original service to two days per week for children and families.
