Guests are invited to enjoy a vibrant evening of art and artist talks, accompanied by a light supper and bar facilities, while exploring works inspired by the rich landscapes and creative energy of the Far West.
Gallery and Museum Manager Kathy Graham said, "These exhibitions celebrate the diverse ways artists respond to our region, from those who travel here and absorb its unique essence, to those who call Broken Hill home. We're delighted to share this dynamic mix of perspectives and artistic voices with our community."
The exhibitions will be on display until 27th April 2025.
Exhibitions
Blow Back Ins
In May 2024, a group of notable Australian artists visited Broken Hill for two intensive weeks of creative exploration. Drawing inspiration from the township and its iconic surrounds, this new generation of artists follows in the footsteps of the original "Blow-In Art Collective," who first came to Broken Hill in 2014. Several members of that original group are part of this year's 'Blow Back-Ins,' who have produced an impressive body of work reflecting the region's stark beauty and unique character.
Whether painting 'en plein air' or working in their studios, these artists have created a diverse collection that spans mediums from salvaged steel to watercolour. The exhibition includes works by Ann Thomson, Ann Cape, Chris Gentle, Daniel Pata, Gina Bruce, Kerry McInnis, Paul Connor, Renata Pari-Lewis, Sophie Cape, Mike MacGregor, and Willemina Villari.
Outback Inspiration: Broken Hill Potters Society
The Broken Hill Potters Society presents Outback Inspiration, a vibrant exhibition of ceramic works inspired by the rugged landscapes, vivid colours, and natural wonders of the Australian outback. Featuring traditional hand-building techniques and innovative firing processes, the exhibition is a testament to the creative talent within the local community.
Each piece offers a deeply personal perspective, exploring the connection between art and the natural environment. This exhibition is a celebration of the outback's profound influence on the creative spirit of the Broken Hill Potters Society.
Outback and Beyond: Willyama Art Society
The Outback and Beyond exhibition by the Willyama Art Society invites viewers to reimagine the outback through fresh perspectives and unexpected interpretations. Featuring works that range from quirky and lighthearted to dystopian and thought-provoking, this exhibition challenges perceptions of life in Australia's remote regions.
As the Society celebrates over 60 years of fostering creativity in Broken Hill, this year's exhibition continues its tradition of pushing artistic boundaries.
