Not one, not two but three extremely rare, history making V8's will go under the hammer this weekend at Lloyds Auctions driven by famous race car legends Craig Lowndes, Larry Perkin's and Todd Kelly.
These cars have even captured the attention of Formula 1 World Champion, Alan Jones who recently commented that "this group of important race cars are significant to the Australian motor sporting history, and I am sure that many supercar enthusiasts will have their eyes on this auction."
"These are three iconic championship winning cars that are extremely rare which we have had great interest in from right around the country and we are excited to see them go to their new custodians," said Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operating Officer for Lloyds Auctions.
On offer is the 2003 Craig Lowndes Ford BA Falcon Supercar, a history making vehicle that had the first win for the new factory Ford team and three-time championship winning car.
The car debuted at the Australian Grand Prix and raced in the caterpillar livery in all rounds in 2003.
Also on offer is the 2002 Castrol V8 supercar driven by Larry Perkins. It was the last V8 that Mr. Perkins drove himself for the full championship season which is a historic milestone.
And if that wasn't enough, also up for grabs is the 2005 Holden Racing team VZ V8 Supercar. This V8 was the last chassis before the Holden Racing Team became Walkinshaw Racing and it was the final VZ car built. The vehicle qualified on pole for both of the 2006 Sandown and Bathurst races.
It is fitted with a one-off black bonnet in honour of the late Peter Brock and has been professionally maintained by race car engineers.
"This weekend marks Lloyds' one year anniversary in the launch of their Grand Carmada event which has over 350 classic cars going under the hammer as well as these iconic race cars, digital classic NFT's, pinball machines and mancave memorabilia, there is something for everyone," continued Mr. Hames.
It is a two-day long event with auctions starting from 10:00am Saturday 24th September and running until 7:00pm Sunday 25th September.
The three iconic racecars will be going under the hammer on Sunday 25th September at 7:00pm.
