Three men to face charges after high risk driving in Melbourne's south-east

Three men had their cars impounded and are expected to be charged on summons after they were caught performing burn outs in Melbourne's south-east overnight.

Casey Highway Patrol officers were patrolling on Centre Road in Hallam when they observed three suspicious vehicles about 10pm.

Officers observed two vehicles engage in high risk driving behaviour by intentionally losing traction with the road.

All three vehicles were intercepted and two were impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1038.

Two Narre Warren men, aged 18 and 19-years, are expected to be charged with intentionally cause loss of traction and will appear at court at a later date.

Hours later, Cardinia Highway Patrol officers responded to reports a vehicle was performing burnouts along Paramount Boulevard in Cranbourne West about 1.10am.

Upon arrival, officers located shredded tyre debris and distinctive tyre markings along the road.

Police tracked the markings for almost two kilometres to an address on Jasa Crescent where they observed a man allegedly removing the rim from his vehicle.

The 20-year-old man had his vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1038 and is also expected to be charged with intentionally cause loss of traction.

These impounds form part of Operation Achilles, an ongoing state-wide operation targeting illegal hoon driving.

Anyone with information about high risk driving is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
