Three suspicious fires across the metropolitan area, SA

Police are investigating three separate suspicious fires overnight which burnt a door, a car and a fence, according to SA Police.

The first fire occurred just after midnight, Saturday 6 January, police and fire crews were called to a block of units on James Street in Gilberton after a resident reported that her front door had been set alight.

Thankfully the occupant, a 31-year-old woman was not injured, but the door was destroyed. MFS report locating an accelerant at the scene and have deemed the fire suspicious.

The second fire occurred just before 2.30am, police and MFS were called to Cudmore Terrace at Henley Beach after local residents reported that a Holden ute was well alight in the street.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries, but it is being treated as suspicious.

The third fire occurred just before 5am. Approximately 60m of brush fence was set alight near the corner of Golden Grove Road and Lake Fortesque Avenue at Greenwith and damaged a tool shed and guttering due to the radiant heat before being extinguished. There were no injuries reported.

Police are investigating all three fires, but believed they are not connected. Crime Scene Investigators will be attending the scenes this morning to assist in the investigations.
