Three Teens Charged in Wollongong Car Theft

Three teenagers have been charged after a car was allegedly stolen, South of Wollongong.

About 8.50am today (Tuesday 1 April 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Huntley Road, Dapto at the intersection of the Princes Highway, Dapto.

Police turned right onto Mount Brown Road following the vehicle and activated its warning lights signalling the car to pull over. The car accelerated toward Burke Road and allegedly collided with an SUV. A pursuit was not initiated.

Officers got out of their vehicle and arrested a 15-year-old male driver and two female passengers, aged 12 and 13.

The trio were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

The 15-year-old driver was charged with breach of bail, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, Unlicensed – Never held (1st offence) and not give way to vehicle at T-intersection.

He was refused bail and will appear in a children's court tomorrow (Wednesday 2 April 2025).

The 12-year-old girl was charged with steal property in dwelling-house and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

She was granted bail to appear in a children's court on Tuesday 15 April 2025.

The 13-year-old girl was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in a children's court on Tuesday 15 April 2025.

Police will allege the car was stolen from a Berkeley home, known to the 12-year-old girl.
