Territorians can now register their light trailer for up to three years as the CLP Government's cost of living Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) initiatives continue to roll out.
Coming into effect on 1 December, the three-year registration period replaces the previous 12-month registration period for light trailers of 750kg aggregate trailer mass or under.
Territorians can still select a 12-month registration period, or whichever is more convenient, up to three years.
The option to register a light trailer for three years reduces hassle while saving Territorians' money - with one roadworthy certificate and one administration fee applying to the selected registration period.
Treasurer and Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure, Bill Yan, said: "We are serious about doing what we can to help drive down cost of living pressures."
"These changes will deliver real relief to Territorians while also giving time back to better spend enjoying our unique lifestyle," said Mr Yan.
"Prior to the CLP coming to office, Territorians suffered for eight years under the previous government who did nothing more than add to Territorians' cost of living.
"Labor increased registration fees by over $100, before selling Territorians an NBL team they never asked for and leaving us with a crime crisis.
"Territorians gave us a mandate to reduce crime, rebuild the economy and restore our lifestyle and that's exactly what we are doing."
The three-year light trailer registration option follows the CLP's freeze on all registration fees for light vehicles until 1 July 2026, as well as providing Territorians with a free driver's licence for one-year, with this benefit coming into effect from 1 January 2025.
