Three-year-old boy in serious condition after near drowning at Tingha

A three-year-old boy remains in a serious condition in hospital after almost drowning in a creek in the state's northern tablelands yesterday.

About 5.30pm (Monday 21 March 2022), a man and a woman were alerted to a three-year-old boy in a creek in Tinga, about 25km east of Inverell.

The pair pulled the boy from the creek and began CPR.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers from New England Police District attended and the boy was taken to Inverell Base Hospital before being airlifted to the Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, however; it is not being treated as suspicious.
