Defence Accommodation Precinct - Darwin (DAP-D), formerly Howard Springs, has re-opened after the wet season and is taking bookings until October.
DAP-D supports individual travel, exercises, training activities and visiting international partners.
The accommodation village, with 3450 rooms, has a gym and covered indoor recreation facility, pool, theatre, laundry and administration facilities, in a secure compound with access control along with free and secure Wi-Fi.
Dining facilities include a mess and tavern.
Assistant Secretary Regional Services, northern zone, Marie Jackson, said she was thrilled with the precinct's success since Defence started using it in July 2023.
"DAP-D has provided outstanding benefits for large-scale exercises, such as Talisman Sabre and Pitch Black, enabling us to host large numbers of personnel from Australia, along with overseas forces at the one site," she said.
"The benefits of this co-location saw relationships forged, not just during work, but also during down time.
"Many of our international partners commented that they wished they had a facility like this one back home and that they couldn't wait to come back."
DAP-D is a short drive from Darwin city, airport and Defence bases and offices.
Ms Jackson encouraged all Defence personnel travelling to Darwin to make use of DAP-D where possible.
"There will always be accommodation on our Darwin Defence bases, but the allocation of that accommodation is more and more challenging every year. It is preferred to allocate rooms on base to those who live on base permanently or have an operational requirement to be on base," she said.
"For everyone else, DAP-D is an excellent solution that many say is even better than base accommodation."
