Tick, Tock, Time's Up For Social Media Hoon Driver

A man has been arrested after driving at extremely high speeds through the metropolitan area.

It will be alleged that at 6pm on Saturday 6 July, a grey Ford Falcon sedan was driven on Main South Road, McLaren Vale at 177 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Footage of this incident was posted on social media by the driver.

Further investigations culminated in officers from the Traffic Services Branch attending a Craigmore address on Wednesday 31 July and arresting the driver, a 29-year. The driver was arrested and charged with a number of traffic offences including driving at an extreme speed and driving unlicenced.

He is also facing extreme speed charges over two separate incidents at Hillbank on 14 August 2023 and 6 July this year at Main South Road and Wheatsheaf Road, Morphett Vale.

The vehicle involved was impounded for 28 days and the driver was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice.

He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 12 September.
