With just five sleeps until Christmas, it's time for the Federal Labor Government to fund its share of Tasmania's vital health infrastructure upgrades.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering more health supports and services through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, and this Christmas we urge the Federal Government to come to the table and deliver for Tasmania.
Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said Tasmania deserves our fair share.
"The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Precinct Masterplan will provide world-class health facilities for Tasmanians, and we're calling on the Federal Labor Government to contribute $240 million," Minister Petrusma said.
"Our Government is already investing $83.7 million to deliver Stage 1, and we've committed $80 million for a new mental health precinct and $53.5 million to start the expansion of the LGH Emergency Department.
"Funding from the Federal Labor Government will deliver a new tower on the LGH site to increase service capacity, including the possible co-location of public and private services to secure the long-term future of private health service provision in the North.
"We're also calling on the Albanese Government to contribute $14 million to deliver Stage 2 of the Kings Meadows Community Health Centre, which will help to increase the capacity of renal services.
"And to better address the healthcare needs of Tasmania's North West, we call on the Federal Government to contribute $87.4 million to support the $174.8 million North West Hospitals Masterplan, which will upgrade and expand the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe.
"They also need to deliver better outcomes for primary care, and we continue to call on them to deliver more bulk-billed urgent care clinics in growing regional areas across the State."
While the Federal Government is leaving Tasmania off the map, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing a record $12.9 billion in Tasmania's health services across the next four years, which equates to $8.8 million every single day.
