If you want to have a role in shaping the future of Nillumbik, consider nominating for Council at this year's council election.
As a councillor, you can shape our Shire in the closest level of government to the community.
If you have a passion for Nillumbik and making a positive contribution to your community, and want to find out more, the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is running a series of information sessions in each region to provide information and inspiration.
The metropolitan northern region session will be hosted by Hume City Council on Thursday 18 July at Town Hall Broadmeadows.
Nillumbik Shire Council CEO Carl Cowie will be there to answer questions and share information about the role.
"Nillumbik relies on community leaders to put their hand up and become a candidate. If you're thinking about standing, come along or log in to the session," said Mr Cowie.
The Northern Councils Alliance will also be represented at the session. The NCA represents seven councils across Melbourne's north - including Nillumbik - to advocate and collaborate on improvements to the economic, social, health and wellbeing of around one million residents.
You can attend any of the information sessions run by MAV - you don't need to attend the session in Hume if you wish to nominate for council in Nillumbik.
To support and encourage a range of diverse candidates the MAV will also be hosting a number of additional sessions for women, youth and First Nations people.
