As one of our municipality's key townships, Buangor has a strong and proactive community who fully utilise their social infrastructure and assets. Ararat Rural City Council is delighted to announce that through the Victorian Government's Tiny Towns Fund, Buangor Recreation Reserve will be receiving an upgrade.
The Tiny Towns Fund was created to support towns of up to 5,000 people, in delivering community projects such as library and community centre upgrades, public art installations, playgrounds and bike trails.
Ripon MP Martha Haylett visited the township to make the announcement.
"Buangor Recreational Reserve has received a grant of $50,000, an incredible amount, to make significant upgrades," she said. "The Ararat Rural City Council has also put money on the table… It's a really happy day for Buangor."
Council contributed $220,000 towards the project.
The Recreation Reserve holds an important position within the area, having emerged as the central meeting place for the local district, with the pavilion and Cobb and Co Hall catering for a wide range of activities and events.
"This project will be enormously beneficial to Buangor," says Ararat Rural City Mayor, Cr Bob Sanders. "The Recreation Reserve and its facilities are pillars of the township's community, and while Council is proud to be making a healthy contribution to the development, the grant from the State Government is very well deserved."
