Toilet Map Hit for Visually Impaired Festivalgoers

Technical University of Denmark

The Nordic's largest music festival is held every summer in Roskilde, where 130,000 people gather at a temporary campsite. Here, toilets are set up in specially designed trailers. For guests with impaired vision, this can be a challenging experience, as not all trailers are designed the same.

A group of five DTU students tried to solve this problem at this year's festival with a 3D-printed map they had developed in the spring. The card can be placed on a toilet door, so guests with impaired vision can use their fingers to get an overview of the design.

"This means you don't have to feel your way by touching the surfaces in there," Christian Stampe explains.
