Health Minister Roger Cook today opened the Tom Price COVID-19 vaccination clinic to boost vaccination rates in the Pilbara.
The Tom Price clinic, along with another clinic in Paraburdoo, is a joint initiative of the McGowan Government, WA Country Health Service, miner Rio Tinto and the Shire of Ashburton.
The initiative is designed to improve access to vaccination for people in Tom Price and Paraburdoo, surrounding Aboriginal communities, and for Rio Tinto workers and their families.
People are encouraged to book an appointment via http://www.rollup.wa.gov.au and walk-ins are also welcome.
The Tom Price Community Vaccination Clinic will run from September 17 to 21 at Tom Price Community Centre, Central Road. The clinic will be open from 9am to 6pm.
The Paraburdoo Community Vaccination Clinic will open for one day, September 23, at Ashburton Hall, Ashburton Avenue. The clinic will be open from 9am to 6pm.
There have been more than two million vaccinations administered to Western Australians across the State.
State-run COVID-19 vaccination clinics are available in more than 100 locations across WA, with locations listed on the HealthyWA website.
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
"It is great to be in Tom Price today at the opening of the COVID-19 vaccination clinic, which is the first of two Pilbara clinics to boost vaccination rates in the Pilbara.
"More than 60 per cent of Western Australians have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine but we want to continue to get as many Western Australians vaccinated as possible.
"I'm proud of this partnership between the McGowan Government and Rio Tinto to vaccinate people in regional WA - and we look forward to working with more resources companies in future to help keep WA safe."
As stated by Mining and Pastoral Region MLC Peter Foster:
"As a Tom Price local, I'd really encourage everyone to roll up for WA; especially our local Aboriginal community.
"It's so important that we do everything we can to protect everyone we love - our family and friends."
