Civic Assist and Adapt Mentorship and Consultancy will share proceeds from the 29th Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast, which will be held at Rumours International on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 6am.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said he was pleased to select charities that were making positive differences to residents' lives.
Mayor Antonio said Civic Assist has provided support services for people of all ages across its various programs for almost 18 years.
He said the Civic Assist Support Centre provided practical support for individuals and families each week and would launch two appeals this year, starting with its Winter Warmth Appeal in May. This will be followed by a Back to School Project in December.
Both appeals target families who are battling rising living costs or starting out again because of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or family and relationship breakdown.
"Civic Assist operates a Youth Street Crew in Toowoomba's CBD on Thursday evenings in addition to the Safe Night Precinct Crew that helps people in distress on Friday and Saturday nights in the CBD," Mayor Antonio said.
"I'm pleased that the 2023 Breakfast also will distribute funds to youth support organisation Adapt Mentorship and Consultancy.
