Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Scott Weinhold will travel as Senior Bureau Official to Salvador, Brazil from November 6-9 to participate in the G20 Ministers of Culture Meeting.
While in Salvador, he will engage with officials from G20 member and invited countries and other key stakeholders to reinforce the United States' commitment to protecting and preserving cultural heritage and preventing illicit trafficking of cultural property. In addition, he will hold several bilateral meetings, connect with alumni of Department exchange programs, and participate in "Music for Diplomacy and Inclusion," a panel co-hosted by the U.S. Embassy, YouTube, and the Salvador Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism to explore how music diplomacy can foster a more inclusive creative economy.
The G20 Culture Ministerial is a forum where cultural ministers from member and invited countries convene to discuss and promote cultural policies that foster collaboration and understanding. By bringing together diverse perspectives, it aims to enhance international cooperation, promote inclusivity, and address challenges in the cultural sector, leveraging culture as a tool for social cohesion and economic growth.
