Natimuk will host the Victorian Yard Utility and Farm Dog Association's state championship in a three-day event at the end of this month.
At Natimuk Showgrounds, from 27-29 March, the championship will attract working dogs from across Victoria and interstate to compete for champion, maiden, novice and open titles.
Quantong's Sally Ison is one of the association's north west zone representatives and successfully applied for a $1,000 Horsham Rural City Council Quick Response Community Development Grant.
"This is an incredible opportunity for our area to host such an event, with the best of the best working dogs competing," Mrs Ison said.
"This will bring in participants from around the state and some interstate with accommodation and general event revenue such as meals over the three days with the Championship to be held on Natimuk Show Day.
"This will be an amazing event for Natimuk and district to hold. We are in an agricultural area where working dogs are very popular and this event will coincide with the Natimuk P & A Society Show," she said.
