Big goals are being kicked at Boss James Reserve with its refurbished pavilion now fully operational.
Officially opened in October, the $3.8 m sustainably built facility in Hampton caters for the changing needs of the resident clubs and will support players of all genders and abilities.
The opening celebrates the 22nd completed as part of Council's $52 million investment to improve all sporting pavilions in Bayside.
Hampton Rovers president and life member Gary Nash, who is also a life member of fellow tenant Hampton Cricket Club, said Council had done a wonderful job on the refurbishment.
"We have been able to retain the original social room while the refurb has provided a terrific up-to-date facility for the two clubs," he said.
"The footy and cricket clubs both have men, women and junior teams so the new inclusive and accessible facilities and features are very welcome, including the DDA compliant carparking now available thanks to the remarking."
New accessible and gender inclusive changerooms and umpire facilities are among the highlights, along with increased internal storage, a custom-built shed for cricket equipment, shelter for spectators, and improved sustainability features.
Sustainable building materials and finishes have been used throughout and solar panels have been installed.
The new, expansive, front windows will ensure maximum use of natural light for heating during winter, and electric appliances and water heating systems will reduce our reliance on natural gas. Sensor lighting have also been installed.
