The tourism industry is calling on Western Australians to bring their family and friends from around Australia to WA over Christmas. With most interstate travel to WA resuming, now is the perfect time to treat interstate friends and family with a Christmas stay in WA.
"Throughout 2020, our family and friends from across the country have faced lockdowns and restrictions. It's now time to celebrate the festive season together, and there's no better way to do it than reuniting here in WA," Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said.
"We're calling on Western Australians to 'Bring 'Em Here for Christmas This Year' and share the Christmas joy by supporting local tourism businesses and jobs this festive season," Mr Hall said.
It's been a difficult year for the tourism industry too, and the WA public can make it a Merry Christmas for tourism businesses by inviting their family West to enjoy a summer holiday and experiencing all that WA has to offer.
"Our interstate family and friends make a significant contribution when they visit WA, spending more than $320 million in the State economy annually, which creates more than 2,500 jobs for Western Australians," Mr Hall said.
"Now that visitors from most States can travel freely to WA, the best way to support tourism businesses is to bring your family and friends West, get out and about, and showcase everything WA has to offer.
"Reuniting with your family for a Christmas stay in WA is the greatest gift you can give to the State's tourism industry."
Mr Hall said tourism businesses were ready and waiting to welcome interstate guests once again in a safe way.
"When you welcome your guests to WA over the Christmas holidays, use it as an opportunity to see WA through the eyes of a visitor and go somewhere new, take a tour, and show off WA's wonderful weather, regions and lifestyle," Mr Hall said.
