Tourism Council WA has welcomed the seven Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 matches to be played in Perth, announced by the State Government today.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said Perth had embraced many Rugby Union matches, including the upcoming Lions tour and Bledisloe Cup later this year.
"Rugby fans are famously well-heeled visitors who will spend big in WA," Mr Hall said.
"We expect a good proportion will have an extended holiday in Perth and in regional destinations such as Margaret River."
Mr Hall said the Rugby World Cup 2027 will attract a strong and growing crowd of Western Australian fans, together with interstate and international visitors.
"Interstate rugby fans travelling to WA will not only attend the matches at Optus Stadium but also stay in hotels overnight, which activates the city and its nightlife, boosting the local economy," Mr Hall said.
Mr Hall said the matches were expected to attract families from interstate, resulting in larger travelling parties to experience the tours, attractions, hospitality, and endless leisure opportunities unique to our State.
