Time is quickly running out to have your say on the future of Queensland's tourism industry.

Public consultation for the 20-year tourism plan Destination 2045: Queensland's Tourism Future will close on 28 February 2025.

Destination 2045: Queensland's Tourism Future will be the roadmap for Queensland's tourism industry, from now to 2045, enhancing our global appeal as we prepare for an influx of visitors.

The visionary plan will unlock untapped lifestyle and culture, including ecotourism, and maximise the legacy of hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell has been travelling statewide as a part of the extensive stakeholder engagement process.

"I am proud to be here on the Sunshine Coast today in the home stretch of our Regional Roadshow, to listen and learn from these passionate locals," Minister Powell said.

"I have personally met with community members and industry experts throughout Queensland, from remote regions to coastal cities.

"With many events set to bring visitors to our great State, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we must be ready to offer them an unparallelled tourism experience.

"We want visitors to come for these events but stay for all that we have to offer, from ecotourism adventures to accessible attractions.

"Tourism is the backbone of the Queensland economy, responsible for one in 12 jobs, which is why it is so critically important to fortify the industry for the future.

"As the public consultation period comes to a close, I encourage all Queenslanders to have their say – as tourism impacts us all."

Minister for Women and Women's Economic Security, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism and Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson said tourism operators on the Sunshine Coast will have vital input for the 20-year tourism plan.

"From the hinterland to the beach, the Sunshine Coast is a tourism powerhouse, attracting millions of visitors every year," Minister Simpson said.

"Sensational experiences and a new-found focus in agri-tourism make this region a stand-out, which is why we want to hear from locals.

"Queensland is a big state; one size does not fit all.

"We need operators from the coast to raise their voices and highlight the biggest challenges facing the industry, particularly so we can maximise the influx of tourists as we head toward the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games."

The recently formed Tourism Cabinet Committee has been instrumental in driving the 20-year tourism plan forward.
