Rural tourism is a key source of revenue and jobs in communities across Atlantic Canada. Boating and other waterfront activities attract tourists and enrich the visitor experience, generating tourism dollars for the local economy.
That is why all three levels of government are coming together to support tourism-focused improvements to the Town of Nackawic's waterfront infrastructure and amenities.
Governments help rural tourism through infrastructure upgrades
René Arseneault, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (Official Languages and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), the Honourable Gary Crossman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, along with Town of Nackawic officials today announced a joint investment of more than $1 million to support the Town's waterfront development project.
Project work will include improvements to the boat launch, to the small craft rental building and to the parking lot, as well as adding a fuel service for boaters. Improved boating and fishing experiences in the region will help promote greater tourism-related economic benefits.
The Government of Canada is committed to helping Atlantic Canadian communities strengthen their infrastructure so they can come back strong and thrive long after the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
