A Wulguru park will undergo a transformation with more than 300 trees and shrubs being planted by community members this Friday.
Council's Environmental Restoration team will be undertaking revegetation works at the Barambah St Park from 9:30 - 11am this Friday as a Community Tree Planting Day.
Divisional Councillor Brady Ellis said tree planting days were a terrific opportunity to revegetate areas throughout Townsville to increase liveability through excellent open spaces and enhance the natural environment.
"As a community it's important we give back to our natural environment and I'm really excited to get my hands dirty at the Wulguru Tree Planting Day this Friday," Cr Ellis said.
"Townsville has some awesome open spaces and it's always great to see Council working to enhance our parks."
Councillor Ellis invited the community to ready their green thumbs and head on down to the event.
"We all know just how important green space and trees are, so I'm urging our community to come on down and get your hands dirty for a good cause," he said.
"Getting involved in these sorts of events is a great way to get out, active, meet new people and of course improve the natural habitat and biodiversity for native animals in the area.
"We encourage everybody to wear sun protection, gloves and closed-in shoes, and for those in attendance there will be a native plant to take home as a thank-you."
